May 2010 sees the pre-launch of an exciting collaboration between Tommy Hilfiger, the Keith Haring foundation and Artestar LLC. The capsule collection features an array of trainers for men, women and children – for women there are also wellies, perfect for the British summer! All styles feature artwork by the late Keith Haring, from simple graphic works, to full on blasts of colour.

The official launch is Autumn this year, but Tommy Hilfiger and the always ahead Dover Street Market have  collaborated  in bringing the collection to London for a limited period before summer. The collection will officially be launched in Tommy Hilfiger stores nationwide, select  footwear boutiques  and department stores in September 2010.

Keith Haring artist and activist often voiced his social and political concerns through his art.Haring moved to New York from Pittsburgh in the late 70’s, to attend the School of Visual Arts (SVA), where he soon became part of a thriving alternative  art community, which included artists as, Jean–Michel Basquiat and Kenny Scharf. This alternative art community was developing outside and independent of, the traditional museum and gallery systems; it’s home instead being on the subways, downtown streets, in former music halls and empty ‘spaces’. Diagnosed with AIDS in 1988, Haring established the Keith Haring Foundation in 1989 to provide funding and imagery to AIDS organizations, and to ensure that his philanthropic legacy would continue indefinitely. The Keith Haring Foundation’s mission is to ‘sustain, expand and protect the legacy of Haring’s art and his ideals’. The Foundation supports organizations that assist underprivileged children, as well as those engaged in education, research and care with respect to AIDS and HIV. Artestar LLC, an international brand licensing and consulting firm, who specializes in fine art, fashion and design brands, represents Keith Haring’s estate.

In December 1995, Tommy Hilfiger established the Tommy Hilfiger Corporate Foundation to help empower America’s youth. Since then, the foundation has given support to a number of projects and programs including the ,Martin Luther King Jr. National Memorial Project Foundation.
