The British Council’s Architecture, Design and Fashion team has developed an exhibition and sale with creative agency Unity. THIS WAY UP will tell the story of 15 years of British Council commissions, exhibitions and special projects. Proceeds from the sale will go towards initiating a new era of design projects.
A fabulous chance to do good, look at the story of 15 years of British Council commissions, exhibitions and special projects and investigate the brand new 3000 sq ft design space called Pitfield in Hoxton all rolled into one. Furthermore, there is to be a silent auction which will run throughout the week, giving visitors the chance to bid on some of the amazing pieces on display including four dresses by Basso & Brooke previously displayed at the Design Museum; also available to bid on will be images commissioned for the exhibition ‘21st Century Dandy’ by renowned photographer Nigel Shafran. Pieces from a wide array of high profile projects such as the Venice Biennale, and by designers including Tom Dixon and Pearson Lloyd are also part of the exhibition.
Mannequins, publications, posters and tools and will be available to buy onsite as will new pieces produced as part of an up-cycling project with Goldsmiths, University of London.
Everything must go! All funds raised by the sale will go towards providing funding for a new British Council fellowship that will give young British designers the chance to work in Brazil.
