Remember that distinctive sound of squeaking sneakers, running slapping feet, the sound of someone vaulting the horse… This new collection of furniture, which made its debut at the Salone in Milan, is the result of a collaboration between three Danish design companies. Designed by Søren Rose Studio, crafted by Denmark’s oldest cabinet makers Bruno Hansen Carpentry and sold globally by eco pioneers Mater.
The predecessor to this line was called High School History Lesson in 2008. Created from recycled gym floorboards, the limited edition collection used the graphic and deceptively simple silhouettes of the court to pay tribute to the unpretentiousness and spirit of sport.
Reinvented as Gymnasium, a mass-produced series using sustainable, eco-friendly materials like renewable pine and regulated Danish oak with water-based fixatives and varnishes.
Søren Rose is an artist, designer, merchant and entrepreneur with a highly developed sense of quality, craftsmanship and a global outlook. A healthy sense of humour and tongue-in-cheek approach to life characterises both Søren Rose and his eponymous studio.
