To celebrate the launch of Collaborate, an exciting new newspaper edited by Mother of Pearl, the brand have teamed up with artist Polly Morgan to produce a limited range of t-shirts. Taking Mother of Pearl’s luxurious Luna Tee in 100% silk, the t-shirts incorporate imagery from two of Polly Morgan’s artworks, ‘Blue Fever’ and ‘Dead Ringer’.
Long time supporter of Mother of Pearl, Polly Morgan is probably best known for her taxidermy still lives, using this traditional craft in unusual ways to raise questions about the setting and the animals themselves. A favorite of fellow artists, such as Banksy, Noble & Webster and Dinos Chapman, her work has been exhibited extensively in the UK and abroad. Her latest solo exhibition, Psychopomps, was at Haunch of Venison in 2010. Polly Morgan sold her very first pieces to Kate Moss, Sharleen Spiteri and Courtney Love.
Stocked exclusively at Harrods and Dover Street Market in London and Colette in Paris, the t–shirts will be available mid-December and retail at £295. Bear in mind we are talking exclusive and limited, basically that means don’t hang about, these lovelies will sell out PDQ.
As you know, the label Mother of Pearl has long been about collaborations. Exciting to discover the launch of Collaborate, a newspaper exploring creative collaborations, edited by Mother of Pearl, which will use the newspaper medium as a platform.
Mother of Pearl have brought together some of the most inspiring figures in Art, Music and Fashion to form a creative hub exploring this notion of collaboration. With artist collaborations already being central to the brand concept, Mother of Pearl invite both industry greats and emerging talents to open up discussion around this topic and instigate new creative partnerships.
Featuring Turner Prize winning artist Keith Tyson, and Mother of Pearl’s Creative Director Maia Norman, as interviewed by SHOWstudio’s Fashion Director Alex Fury. The newspaper will also include content from Patrick Wolf, Lucy Ewing, Jim Lambie, Fred Tomaselli, Tom Vek and Chloe Kerman along with original artwork from David Bailey, Simeon Farrar, Fiona Banner and David Downton. The newspaper will also feature exclusive Mother of Pearl collaborations with Polly Morgan and Nick Knight’s SHOWstudio.
Collaboration is available from Dover Street Market and Colette, galleries such as Other Criteria, the Daniel Hersheson Salons, and throughout UK and Europe’s most innovative spaces and creative meeting places.
