The stunning American designer Jessica Carnevale’s equally stunning debut collection for Carnevale Studio, ‘Stretch’, was based on Jessica’s desire to bring some of the fashion world’s flamboyance into her designs. Having experimented with a variety of materials, she finally plumped for latex, bungee and rope, attracted to those particular media for their bright, enticing colours and glorious elasticity. The result is a collection of three mouth-watering pieces, showing that design can be fun while also beautiful and utilitarian.
Jessica Carnevale studied industrial design at the Rhode Island School of Design. Her impressive pedigree includes working for Martha Stewart and Anna Sui. She has for the past two years worked for Marcel Wanders Studio in Amsterdam, developing collections for Baccarat, Target, Bardell, Mooi and Cappellini amongst others. In May this year she relocated to London to set up her own studio.
Her approach to design is typically led by the material – her inspiration is driven by a passion to combine materials in new and exquisite ways, be it for fashion or industry.
