It seems everyone is having anniversary celebrations these days! But who are we to complain, it is always worth taking time to celebrate longevity and success in such a fickle and fast moving business. London based designer Ally Capellino is treating us to an exhibition of her work, both past and present at The Wapping Project, with an imposing wall of bags will be installed by the art director Rupert Blanchard. The bags will consist of Ally’s own archive, current pieces and vintage bags that have inspired the collections. During her thirty years in business Ally has not only developed a loyal army of aficionados for her brand, but has also been asked to produce lines for Apple, Topshop, Margaret Howell, Tate Modern, Cowshed as well as the unique task of redesigning the iconic Girl Guide and Brownie uniforms.

She has also collaborated with Liberty of London to produce two commemorative bags, to be sold exclusively by the store. For men’s the ever popularFrank rucksack has been produced in soft blue leather and contrasting tan leather buckles. For the women’s a Sadie bag has been taken from Ally’s archive and reworked in soft brown leather, again with contrasting satchel buckles. Both styles are lined with Liberty of London fabric and feature an embossed joint label. Mmm, now how to choose between the two…

The exhibition will open on the 23nd April and run for five weeks.
