With her statuesque 5’ 11” tall figure and gappy smile, Trissan literally took my breath away when she passed me in the street. She was born in sunny Jamaica and is currently living in London. She is a model with D1 agency and the owner of a very enviable 24” waist.
Volt Café: Queen Elizabeth remains Queen of Jamaica (by tradition only) is this ancient connection possibly the reason why you feel so at home here in the UK?
Trissan: Jamaicans have their own little communities in and around, so I don’t miss out on the food and the vibe of the true Jamaican spirit… even if it’s not 100% the same.
VC: Royalty aside, are there any other British traditions you have taken to like talking obsessively about the weather and drinking tea?
T: Fish and chips – with a little salad on the side!
VC: I saw you stomping the runway in London, you had such impact.. those never ending legs, that body. Do you have to work hard at looking that good or is it all nature’s work?
T: It’s all thanks to my personal trainer who I work out with 3 times per week, Yoga, Pilates and Zumba… I have a well balanced diet and drink a lot of water as well.
VC: What has been your highest point modelling so far?
T: Being able to work with Nick Knight and Edward Enninful. It was like a dream come through. Working with Joan Smalls, the top black model at that moment.
VC: Any embarrassing moments on the job that you can share?
T: My most embarrassing moment was my first season in Paris 2010, I had a fitting for Maison Martin Margiela. After trying on the outfit it was time to fit the shoes and there were no shoes to fit me at all… I begged the designer “please to let me wear my own shoes” but no. I went home and cried my eyes out, called my mom and cursed her out for canoodling with my dad and having him give me his big feet! Now whenever I go to a job or fitting I always fit the shoes first.
