After being out of sight for over two years, the Adidas Stan Smith tennis shoe has returned. For once, the legendary white sneakers will not be used as footwear but function as a blank canvas. Exhibiting artists such as Boy George, Carl Hopgood and James Taylor will be showcasing their eye-catching designs next to Platform 6 patrons such as Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Sir Elton John and Kylie Minogue. This has resulted in twenty amazing customized art pieces integrating the original pair of sneakers. In some cases entirely transformed, in some cases showing a witty twist. All in all sneakers revealed from a totally different perspective.
The artworks will be ready to view from the 7th to the 14th at the Platform 6 exhibition in the Bargehouse down Southbank, where you can stop by from 10am till 6pm.
Also, during the opening on the 4th of September a silent auction will start online and last until the 14th of September giving you a chance to be the owner of one of the collaborative footwear pieces. All the profit will be donated to the Stonewall Charity Foundation.
A great opportunity to welcome back the Stan Smith while checking out the transformation of a legendary white sneaker into an even more legendary customized art piece.
